Gluten & Dairy Free Restaurant & Travel Guides

Eating out is the hardest part of gluten and dairy free life. Most restaurant guides cover gluten and stop there — which doesn't help when you need both. These do both.

Each guide covers what's actually safe, what to avoid, and how to ask so your order gets handled properly. Menus change constantly, so always confirm with the restaurant before you order.

Chain Restaurants

  • Cheesecake Factory — an enormous menu with a published gluten free list, but almost none of it is dairy free. Here's what actually works, course by course.
  • Chick-fil-A Breakfast — what's safe on the breakfast menu, and the fryer question nobody tells you to ask.
  • Little Caesars — an honest look at whether pizza is worth the risk, and how to order if you're going anyway.

City & Travel Guides

  • New York City — where to eat safely across the boroughs, from dedicated bakeries to reliable chains.
  • Salt Lake City — dedicated gluten free kitchens and the spots that genuinely understand cross-contamination.
  • Miami & Fort Lauderdale — four places worth planning your trip around, including a fully safe breakfast spot.
  • Maui — eating gluten and dairy free on the island, including where to stock up on safe groceries.
  • Flying & Airport Food — 40+ snacks that clear security and survive the trip, because airport food will not save you.
  • Cruising on Norwegian — all the tips to making sure you get safe and delicious food while on board.

Before You Go

Three things that make eating out easier anywhere:

  • Call ahead at a quiet hour. Mid-afternoon, never during a rush. You'll get a real answer from someone who has time to check.
  • Say "allergy," not "preference." Kitchens treat those differently, and the difference is a glove change and a clean pan.
  • Ask about the fryer specifically. A shared fryer quietly undoes an otherwise safe order, and it's the single most common miss.

Menus change often. These guides reflect what was published when each was last checked — always confirm with the restaurant.
