rice krispie treats with candy corn on them on a cutting board with dish towel- an allergy friendly treat

This recipe idea started after I had leftover candy corns from a previous post, Candy Corn Brownies. And seeing wonderful reactions from family and friends over the festive brownies, I decided to create another fall dessert with them.

Fast forward to the creation of candy corn rice krispie treats with loads of sprinkles and ooey gooeyness. For this recipe I used my original rice krispie treats recipe found on my blog here.

allergen information:

  • candy corns: Brach’s candy corns work wonderfully. Importantly, those concerned about gluten or dairy cross-contamination please read my post Candy Corn Brownies. In it you will find detailed allergen information with safe candy corn options available. I want everyone to safely enjoy these treats.
  • fall sprinkles: I added in sprinkles found at my local Hobby Lobby. Their website and the container both say these sprinkles are gluten free and manufactured in a nut free facility. The only allergen ingredient listed is soy. You can read about this product here. If you’re interested in a similar product by Sweet Indeed that’s GF, DF, EF, and NF, check out these sprinkles on Amazon. Note the Amazon website says the larger sugar pearl beads are hard… aka I’d pick those few out for this recipe. No need to have a little one choke. These “Trick or Treat” sprinkles are also manufactured in a “free from” facility according to a recent phone call I shared with their allergen specialists.
  • gluten free rice krispie cereal: if you’re looking for a certified gluten free cereal, check out Nature’s Path Crispy Rice Cereal available here. I’ve also heard favorable reviews about Walmart (called Crispie Rice), Aldi, and Harris and Teeter’s rice krispie cereals.
