For the donuts:

  • White granulated sugar
  • Salt
  • Dairy-free butter (melted Earth’s Best df butter is what we used)
  • Dairy-free milk (oat milk used)
  • Vanilla extract- always make sure yours is safe
  • Almond extract
  • Baking soda
  • Baking powder
  • All-purpose gluten-free flour (King Arthurs or Bob's Red Mill used)
  • Vegan rainbow sprinkles (can also use dye-free sprinkles from Supernatural) Put some Extra Vegan Rainbow Sprinkles to one side for decoration. 
  • Red, Green, Yellow, Blue, Pink Food Dyes (any rainbow colors)- also can use natural food dye coloring instead

Vegan vanilla glaze:

  • Powdered sugar sifted
  • Dairy-free milk – this will make more than enough glaze for all the donuts. We use unsweetened almond milk, but any dairy free milk will do.

How To Make The Funfetti Donuts

  1. Gather all of your ingredients together and prepare or measure and ready to start. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Next up, you will need to prepare the donut pan. You can do this by spraying it with baking spray.
  3. In a medium mixing bowl add the sugar, salt, melted butter, milk and vanilla and almond extracts. Give all of the ingredients a stir to make sure they are combined. 
  4. Next, add the baking soda, powder and flour. Whisk everything together to make sure it is combined and you have a light and fluffy mixture. 
  5. In a separate bowl, add the vanilla and 1 to 2 tablespoons of dairy-free milk. You will need to use your judgment based on how thick the frosting is. Set aside until ready to use. 
  6. Take a piping bag and use a butter knife with a drop of any color of food dye to make a line vertically from the tip of the bag to the open end of the bag.
  7. Repeat around in a circle for the remaining food dye colors.
  8. Pour the donut mixture into a piping bag.
  9. Snip the end of the bag and fill the prepared donut pan with some mixture. You will want to fill each donut mold ¾ full. 
  10. Place in the oven for 10-12 minutes or until you notice the donuts are just starting to turn a little brown and golden. 
  11. While the donuts are in the oven, prepare a baking sheet with a layer of parchment paper
  12. Once ready, remove the donuts and then let them cool for five minutes.
  13. Take your vanilla glaze and drizzle over the donuts then sprinkle with the extra rainbow sprinkles.
  14. Enjoy while still warm!

Recipe Variations

Want to add a little chocolate? You could add some dairy-free chocolate chips to the donut mixture. It is a great way to add some extra flavor to this fun treat. 

Miss off the glaze. If you want regular donuts you can skip the glaze and just sprinkle some powdered sugar across them instead. They will still taste amazing. 

Color the glaze. For a bit of fun, you can add a little food coloring to the vanilla frosting and then have colorful funfetti cake donuts.

Storage

These donuts can easily be stored at room temperature. Just let the dairy free funfetti donuts cool before you put them in an airtight container or ziplock bag. You can keep them for up to five days. 

You can also freeze these gluten free donuts before frosting them. Place them on a baking sheet and then freeze. Let them thaw completely before frosting and enjoying. They will last up to two months in the freezer.
