Storage

Leftovers should be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4-5 days. Additionally, you can cover the pops with plastic wrap.

If you are making these for a bake sale or a gift, you can wrap each pop individually with plastic wrap and then tie with a ribbon for a nice presentation.

Tips and Variations

  • Always check that your spices are gluten free and dairy free. Some spice companies add hidden dairy or gluten in spices.
  • If you don't have popsicle sticks, you can use lollipop sticks or a craft stick for each pop.
  • Make sure you cut the small slit in the crust so the hot air from the filling has a place to be released.
  • When measuring your gluten free flour, spoon the flour into the measuring cup and use a knife to level it.
  • If you don't want to use the popsicle sticks to make Apple Pie Pops, you can serve just the mini pies as apple pie pop tarts.
  • You can add a little tartness to your apple pie filling by adding a squirt or two of lemon juice.
  • If you don't have the individual spices, you can use apple pie spice.
  • You can make a double or even triple batch of these pops. You'll need to get a second pie crust to make more.

What kind of apples should I use?

We used Granny Smith Apples, but you can really use any apple variety that you prefer. Gala apples are a tasty option.

Sometimes, it's nice to mix a few of different apple varieties to mix up the flavors. You can use either sweet apples, tart apples, or a mix of the two.

Can I make other shaped pie pops?

Certainly! If you don't want to use a circle cookie cutter, you can use other shapes. Just be sure to crimp the edges well using the fork so your filling doesn't explode out of the edges.

Can I make these pops ahead of time?

Yes, you can make these Apple Pie Pops ahead of time. Store them properly until you're ready to serve them.

Some people like to enjoy these when they're still warm, so ones that you make ahead of time will not be warm still.
