How to Make Champagne Jello Shots

  1. On a parchment lined baking sheet, line out your 20 plastic shot glasses and set aside.
  2. In a small saucepan, add the champagne, granulated sugar, and lemon juice. Carefully, add the gelatin powder on top of the mixture, but do not mix it in. Allow it to sit for 3 minutes.
  3. Turn the heat on the stove to medium-low heat. Continually stir the mixture in the pot until the gelatin is fully dissolved. Do so carefully and quickly, so it does not come to a boil.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the ginger ale. Once the carbonation fizzing from the soda stops, pour the mixture into the shot glasses. This is easiest to do if you can use a container with a spout or use a funnel Add the lids, and make sure that the liquid doesn’t touch the lid.
  5. Place the jello shots in small plastic cups on pan in the refrigerator for up to 3 hours to fully set.
  6. Add glitter or sprinkles in the jello before serving.
  7. Enjoy!

Storage

The best way to store these is in their containers like you do with regular jello shots and keep them in the refrigerator until you're ready to enjoy them. Do not leave them out at room temperature.

Recipe Variations

Make kid friendly jello. Instead of using champagne, try using ginger ale, lemon-lime soda, apple juice, orange juice, or something else kid friendly.

Trade up the flavor. We used unflavored gelatin, but you can use a strawberry gelatin mixture to make strawberry champagne jello shots. You can also use any other gelatin that is safe to create fun flavors for your New Year's Eve party!

Swap out the edible glitter. If you're having a hard time finding a safe gluten and dairy free glitter or gold sprinkles, try using one of our favorite gluten and dairy free sprinkles from Indeed Sprinkles! You can swap out the color of the glitter or sprinkles to fit your theme if using for another themed event.

Tips and Tricks

  • Depending on the size of your plastic jello shot cups, you may make more or less shots.
  • Always, always, always, check labels of your ingredients to ensure they're still safe.
  • if you don't have little cups, you can use a silicone mold to make bite size jell-o shots, or you can use a mini muffin pan.
  • To make these less messy, use a funnel, or a container with a pouring spout to pour the jello mixture into the shot cups.
  • If you don't have fresh lemon juice, you can use the stuff from the container. Although, we do think fresh has the best flavor.
  • Don't hesitate to use any remaining champagne in other recipes like pork chops with mini potatoes.
  • Wait to add the sprinkles until after the jello has set. The sprinkles or glitter will absorb the moisture from the jello and it won't turn out if you try to add them before setting in the fridge.
