The Must Have Donut

If you're looking for the perfect gluten and dairy free chocolate donut recipe read this. These are a must have.

A chocolate donut with sprinkles.

Each bite melts into your mouth like the most chocolate amazing-ness ever. The sprinkles add that small bite of crunch. Y'all, this is a party in your mouth!

I'm always on the search for the ultimate chocolate donut recipe. Donuts are a special breakfast treat in our home. My kids cheer for donuts. Donuts hold some sort of magic power over my kids. So I save them for holiday mornings, special school rewards, goals met at home, or when we travel.

I've really needed a go-to donut recipe. After trying several gluten and dairy free donut recipes, I've come to a few conclusions:

  • not all donuts are created equal
  • not all donuts taste good the day after you make them
  • chocolate is our favorite
  • sprinkles make everyone happy

When I came across this recipe, I was game to try it -- the sprinkles got me.

This gluten and dairy free donut recipe is from A Dash of Megnut. First, that blog name is one of the coolest and funniest run-on words for a blog name. Kudos to her.  It makes me giggle and smile just saying it in my head. Anyone else giggle and smile about epic blog names ?

Really though -- if you've been searching for the perfect chocolate donut recipe, I'd suggest this one.

Her recipe was easy to follow, and I had all the ingredients on hand. Whoop whoop!

I had fun piping the donut batter into the donut pan. It was easy cheesy. The consistency of the batter was fabulous to work with. By far the easiest I've piped yet. I appreciated her suggestion to fill the pan to the top with batter. This was spot-on for this recipe.

The chocolate frosting recipe was delicious and easy to use. I use lots of frosting on donuts, and I had enough frosting without needing a second batch.

I refrigerated the frosted donuts for 15 minutes.

Then I started the sprinkle party. There were sprinkles here and sprinkles there. There where sprinkles everywhere. Y'all, I am still finding sprinkles in my kitchen. Sprinkles make me happy, though, so it's all good!

The ultimate donut test for me is how the donut looks and tastes the day after. Has the frosting slid off or turned oily? Is the donut still moist and delicious?

My kids and I definitely give this gluten and dairy free chocolate sprinkle donut delight 10 stars! I'm excited to try more of Meg's recipes.

Eat well, feel well, and sprinkle on well!

Jill
